Reviews of Hannah...

I really enjoyed reading about Hannah's life - the journey of transportation she endured then the hardships of all these early pioneers - it makes me appreciate the Australia I now live in. I would recommend this book to anyone with an interest in the history of early Australian settlement
~ Christine

This novel follows Hannah through a dreadful existence on board a convict ship, to life in the colony of New South Wales, her love story with seaman Daniel Clarke and the challenges they faced in the remote settlement of Windsor in the year of 1814. Hannah is a charming story of a strong woman who survived and thrived despite the hardships she faced. I would especially recommend it for anyone with an interest in the colourful convict era of Australia.

I loved the story about a convict woman called Hannah. It is full of action and endurance and I would recommend it to anyone.

Out of the Darkness

Sarah Dunleavy leaves a boring life at her father’s drapery in Southampton to take up an appointment as governess to the children of Admiral Ellsworth in London. After one of her charges is raped, she takes justice into her own hands, is charged, thrown into Newgate prison and is sentenced to transportation for life to New South Wales. The year is 1831 and many adventures await her in the prison ship, the prisons, the notorious Female Factories and the untamed wilderness of the new world. Out of the Darkness is a novel of historical significance that takes the reader back two hundred years to Australia's convict era.
