She survives six long months in the convict ship Canada, arriving in Sydney Cove in 1810 before being sent to the notorious Female Factory at Parramatta. After years of prison life she marries a seaman and shares many adventures in the wilderness of the new settlement before taking a place in the growing society of the new world.

I really enjoyed reading about Hannah's life - the journey of transportation she endured then the hardships of all these early pioneers - it makes me appreciate the Australia I now live in. I would recommend this book to anyone with an interest in the history of early Australian settlement

This novel follows Hannah through a dreadful existence on board a convict ship, to life in the colony of New South Wales, her love story with seaman Daniel Clarke and the challenges they faced in the remote settlement of Windsor in the year of 1814. Hannah is a charming story of a strong woman who survived and thrived despite the hardships she faced. I would especially recommend it for anyone with an interest in the colourful convict era of Australia.
